Reflections

It was quite challenging for me to work on the survey. I had underestimated the time I will need to complete this output and I am now far behind schedule.
I added an article, Survey Reflections in the appendix that provides details and some suggestions for the future. The following summarizes the main points:

  • Working with the Action Learning Group worked well in the beginning and then got difficult probably partly due to the big time difference and the great difference in type of projects.
  • I find myself working more on creating outputs then anything else.
  • The set advising sessions are helping in re-focusing, but somehow are not satisfying. I will work on changing this.
  • Extending the program duration and/or finding a flexible mode of output delivery methods could be very helpful.
  • Some of the major output work and classes happen during the main growing/harvesting season.
  • There is actually a seventh output - preparing a presentation.
  • Receiving additional information in regards to outputs, design, etc. is helpful and also adds more stress and potentially the need to re-design approaches and systems set up, which can be time consuming.
  • It is really my own action or in-action that brought me where I am right now!
  • I experienced one day of utter confusion in regards to design cycles and mind maps.
Evaluation Form

Here is my self-evaluation for the survey output for downloading, including some additional notes. I have sent it to the member of my Action Learning Group, but as discussed will not wait until receiving anything back before sending this output off. I have been looking at the evaluation form - wow - I will need to re-read it and then rethink how to cover all the pieces for my next outputs.

Learning Expectations

Can't really say that it is happening quite the way I want it and I have the feeling it is mostly something I will need to change. I am not quite clear yet which pieces. I do enjoy the more intellectual and mental work of processing, thinking about the design, getting all the pieces together, develop good plans, do online research, etc. On the other hand it seems I have too little time to do a really great job and it takes too much time to actually get to implementing anything.

Next Steps

I think I have a pretty good insight into the nature and scope of this project and look forward in getting into the next phase. Some of the work done for this survey is already reaching into the analysis and design phase and so I hope that the next phases are going to be less on the computer and more actual project design and implementation work. I will try to create the analysis & design output using Moodle in an ongoing fashion.
